The SUPERCOMP wooden composter 340L is made from first-class solid pine wood. The polypropylene inner lining (also on the lid) protects the wood permanently.

Your composter is a beautiful piece of garden furniture that is exposed to all kinds of weather and sunlight. We therefore recommend that you always treat your composter with a UV wood protection varnish, the lids 3 x on the outside!
Many of our customers ask us which product they should use. Based on our experience to date, we can recommend JOTUN Demidekk Terrasslasyr in 4 selected colors (premium quality product). Our wooden composter shown here was filled with the color "natural".
JOTUN oils are mainly used in shipbuilding due to extreme weather conditions.
Of course, it is up to you to decide whether you want the protection. You can also use a cheaper product (oil-based) from the DIY store.

Pine wood:
A SUPERCOMP wooden composter 340L is made from domestic solid pine wood. Pine wood has good elasticity and strength properties. It grows throughout Europe as far as eastern Siberia and can be found in Asia Minor. The tree is considered undemanding. Nutrient-poor sandy soil is sufficient for it to grow and until now it was considered resistant to low water levels. These characteristics allow it to grow at high altitudes in the Alps.
Inside, the wood is protected with attached PP hollow-chamber multiwall sheets. Polypropylene is considered the most environmentally friendly plastic and is fully recyclable. The intelligent hollow chamber system saves valuable raw materials compared to solid plastic.
The positive properties of pine wood:
Pine forests with their pleasant scent have a high recreational value for people. The trees with the evergreen long "double needles" and the gray-brown bark at the bottom and fox-red bark at the top are among the light tree species and support sensitive flora and fauna such as bilberry and cranberry or the rare capercaillie. With their taproots they defy wind and weather, and as pioneers they colonize open land. The common pine, lat. Pinus Sylvestris L., also known as Scots pine or white pine, is a survivor: it is naturally displaced by other tree species and is therefore constantly forced to adapt in its search for a niche. This is reflected in its diverse appearance.
